Our Household Committee

“Please sign up” may have been first uttered by someone on the Household Committee. Just as these particular words have a long history at Canterbury, so the Household Committee--formerly known as the Inreach Committee, which was formerly known as the Household Committee--also obviously has been a part of Canterbury for a long time.

This committee’s primary purpose is to minister to our own parish or household. Celebrations for confirmations, high holy days, bishop’s visits, and funerals are organized, planned, prepared, set up, and cleaned up by this committee.

Other events have included periodic cleaning up and/or organizing of the kitchen or storage rooms, organizing Foyer groups, organizing ppportunities for worship outside of the normal Sunday services, and various forms of fellowship and pastoral care.

The Sunday Coffee and Donut Holes tradition is part of the Household Committee, as well as generating casseroles for our members as needs arise.

The Prayer Chain has worked through this committee, and plenty of pot luck suppers have been initiated, as well as the washing and ironing of table cloths for these dinners.

Some activities falling within the purview of this committee are thankfully initiated and delivered entirely by individuals who act spontaneously and independently for our parish life. Other times a group comes together to accomplish a particular task and then simply disbands. Thankfully everyone in the parish who has ever responded or participated is a member of this rather loose knit committee each time that you remember to PLEASE SIGN UP.
