Mother's Chapel Canterbury Cross
The Structure of St. Thomas of Canterbury
He said to them.... "Come and see." (John, 1:39)
St. Thomas of Canterbury is affiliated with the Episcopal Church, which is a member of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Our Diocese - the Diocese of the Rio Grande - is part of the Episcopal Church USA's Province VII. The geographic area of the Diocese comprises all of New Mexico and the area of Texas between El Paso and Big Bend. Our Diocesan Bishop's office and staff are located in Albuquerque at Diocesan House (4304 Carlisle NE).
The Rector is the chief pastor of the Parish. Our Rector is the Rev. Canon Carole Mcgowan. An elected group of lay people serve as the Vestry, our Board of Directors. Together the Rector and Vestry manage the affairs of the parish.

The Vestry makes policy decisions regarding the overall life and direction of the parish and bears the ultimate responsibility for financial matters.
Vestry members are nine church laypersons, elected at annual congregation meetings to serve three-year terms. The Vestry elects a Junior Warden from among its own members. The parish Senior Warden is appointed by the Rector.
